Hallo,

it has key and pull starter. key to release the pull starter, then I pull the starter.

it used to work like you mentioned. you pull until it lits, but some mechanic messed it up and its not working.

another guy, and electritian, saw a loose cable and "plugged" it to some kind of resistance under the hood. and now it lits as soon as i pull up the startet. so I do. not know when its the perfect time to start the engine.

does it make sense? I'm pretty sure this unit has a time relay or something

yes, it looks exactly like #1

so I think the problem is in the ballast resistor. someone messed up over there.

this is how it was working before:
1- pull the starter, indicator bulb was OFF
2- when heated (after a few seconds) indicator bulb would go ON
(is this how yours is working, or how is it supposed to work?)

after taking the JC to an electrician, the blue and yellow wire from the picture was loose. This wire is the one taking current to the indicator bulb.

so I connected this cable to the upper part of the ballast resistor (as seen in the picture), and I believe it should be connected somewhere else.

So I'm pretty sure you are right.
the indicator lamp cable must be connected to the back of the resistor.

Sorry for the question, but how do I do this? is there some kind of connector for that bimetal part? I don't want to have the cable without a connector there.

Another thing. I took a closer look at the bimetal of the resistor and after around 50" the resistance heated up, but the bimetal did not move :/. I was a bit scared of heating it up more time.
May it be broken? The resistor looks old and dirty but it doesn't look broken.

On the other hand, I remember having preheated for almost 2 minutes in the past and glow plugs still work (because engine starts well). So I guess someone is stopping glow plugs from getting burnt somewhere.

1-2 minutes is normal? really? some people told me the glow plugs would burn after more than a minute of heating :/
