Tire pressures

Beitrag von ooznak » 15.06.2019 21:32

Hello!

What tire pressures do you use in the front wheels? And in the rear?

Thank you in advance

Hi ooznak,
Mercedes-Benz recommends 2.8 bar (41 psi) for the front and 4.5 bar (65 psi) for the rear tires (225/70 R15 C), if the Sprinter is loaded (but this is nearly always the case :) )

I have that sticker too. But It seems to be a very low pressure when you put It on the wheels

Here in Spain, other users put 4 in the front tires.

I was wondering if Westfalia has some pressure recommendation.

Thank you for the answer and the photo!

NOT for James Cook.

In the USA, our Airstream Westfalia version of the 2004 James Cook has a higher 8550 pound vehicle weight limit, and larger 225/75/16 light truck tires. (There are other changes to the USA Sprinters versus European Sprinters, including a 1 inch lift.)

The Westfalia recommended tire pressures are 55 psi (pounds per square inch) in the front and 80 psi in the rear for the 225/75/16 tires.

Some owners suggest higher pressures in the front for better handling.

These are the pressures that some owners on Spain use too.

NOT for James Cook.
Why should the Mercedes-Benz recommendation not be valid for the James Cook?
I am curious to learn that.
Thanks in advance!

"NOT for James Cook" meant my post was about the NAFTA Airstream version which has 16" wheels and 225/75/16 original equipment tires with recommended 55 psi in front and 80 psi in rear (so the information does NOT apply to James Cooks with 15" wheels and smaller tires).

Mercedes info placard you have should apply to the James Cook.

Just wanted to make sure no one inflated their James Cook tires to the NAFTA American higher tire pressures, but thought folks might be interested to see how the Dodge Sprinter Airstream Westfalia compared. Even with our placard 55 psi in front, like your James Cook owners, some NAFTA owners liked a higher tire pressure for better handling. Some owners have also found that the larger 245/75/16 with greater load carrying capacity also improved the handling.

Our USA Dodge Sprinter versions are also rated for more weight than the European Sprinters. Our Sprinters are rated for 8550 pounds versus the European lower weight.

Hi OldWest,
thanks for your answer.
Of course, with other tires, different pressures are understandable.
