Newbie question - curtain?

Beitrag von fleep » 12.10.2017 08:31

Hi,

I have a newbie question. In my James Cook I have found a large silver fabric panel. It is not the insulated one that goes on the front windows, but it does have Westfalia logos on it, so it must be part of the van. It is approximately 1.5m square, and has Velcro fasteners on it. I have no idea what this is, and the manual is only in German, so that doesn't help me. What is this for?

Thanks :D

Hello and welcome

Maybe you can do a picture of that part or if you’ve have found it in the manual get a picture from there.

The front window cover and the front door covers is a set of 3 parts.

Hi,

Yes, I have the front window set of 3 (silver insulated with suckers). But this item is different.

Here it is

So, someone must know what this is! Was this a Westfalia Accessory? :?:

Thanks!

Hi guys,

I’m not sure but maybe this kind of piece looks like an outside front window cover?!?
To protect your front windows against snow and ice.
Do you think the fabric is “heavy weather protect”?
Another idea, bicycle cover...
Just some ideas.

I don't think, that this is external fabric. It doesn't feel heavy duty enough. The top has a channel as if it is supposed to hang on a rail. Size wise, it seems to be the same size as the cab aperture between the front and back seats. Maybe this is a curtain to hang inside the van?

Hi,
it looks like a shower-curtain for the outside shower in the back?
Best wishes

OK, possible answer here. I contacted the dealer who I bought the van from in Germany. Apparently the thinks this is a pop top sun shield made for the VW California and Marco Polo vans. The dealer specialises in these pop tops (mostly shipping from Germany to Holland), so I can only assume it was included by mistake.

I can't see any examples on line of these on Cali's or Marco Polos, but a few on older Vanagons.

Google translate may also be giving me problems, as it could also be one of these, but for the smaller awning on the Cali/Marco Polo (minus the window)...

Whatever, it looks like it doesn't belong to a Cookie...

Hi,
just found this and remind your question.
Seems to be the outdoor shower curtain.
