brake efficiency

Since the first day I drive with my JC, I feel the brake efficiency very bad (in comparison with my Mercedes Viano)
The van weight well 3500kg; but it is not abnormal.
On dry road, the full braking never excites the ABS.

The Dekra , the legal belgian annual test and the MB test are ok. (But I'm not ok)

What is your feeling about this aspect ?

Hi Vtxbe,

From the first day on, I’ve had the same feeling.
Because my James Cook is changed to 3880kg, with a big trailer with motorbike and bicycles, and annually to the TÜV, I am amazed every year that the brake test is always in the optimum range. Inexplicable for me. I'm used to slowing down both my Golf GTD and the Porsche, which equates to an anchor throw. He slows down, but I have to be very hard on it!

Good luck, Tom

Hi guys, that's physics: take a bicycle and load it up with 40kg extra load, than try how the brakes work. Similar things can be experienced with a small car and a trailer w/o brakes and 750kg of total load.
The acceleration is ok because of the engine power, deceleration has to be accomplished through the brakes...

Hi Netsailor,

when I drive my MB Viano(2004 - 625.000 km) loaded with my five adults, children, my wife and me + luggage + ski and snowboard on the rackroof, this car brakes very well. The power of braking is adapted to the load. I don't feel the same on my JC...

I also feel that the braking is not good. I do not know if there will be any kit to improve braking

Moin!

so Long...

Hi Kalle,

Dein Anhänger hat doch bestimmt Auflaufbremsen - oder?

Beste Grüße

PS.: unser Trip nach Vincy war wirklich klasse, Danke für den Tip :P
