Hi Peter, hi everyone,

Yes, we shipped ours in 2011, and the cost, including 'total loss' insurance was $2,600, one way. Shipping was $2,200 and insurance $400. The insurance for total coverage was much more expensive and still excluded 'rust, oxidation, discoloration, wetting, staining, denting, scratching, and/or chipping.' Ours arrived undamaged, with everything inside in a locked trunk bolted into the seat rails.

My wife is from England, so we had the van shipped to Southampton for logistical reasons and because I wanted to do the pickup in my native language. It was much easier on the UK side than the US (Baltimore), with all the security bureaucracy there. I flew from Berlin to London, took two short train journeys, and walked onto the port (about 20 minutes from the train station) and was driving within half an hour.

I used Carex Shipping and they were fine but there was a lot of back-and-forth needed. It probably pays to shop around or just use SeaBridge if convenience is most important.

One tip: provide accurate measurements of your camper and consider peeling off the height sticker on the door...because you pay by the cubic foot, a lazy dockworker will use that and charge more. For example, the NAFTA Westies are only about 10' 8" tall, but have an 11' sticker on the door.

Ted, Where exactly is that height sticker located? We don't see one on haRVy. Hope to meet you in 2018!

Would be great to see you!

The height sticker is on the driver's door panel on the up-facing edge not far from the split for the quarter window. It's about two inches long and is pictured below. I ran that part number through a bunch of different part lists and came up blank, but if you'd like I have a higher resolution version if you want to make your own sticker.

When we took the A/C off the roof we made a new one by ordering sticker photo prints at the local drug store -- easy and cheap.

Ted
