Do you all know how crazy the wohnmobil world has become in North America? (Maybe I am just living in the Dark Ages)
As I continue to work on adapting the 230V electrical system of my Gen 2 JC to North American standards I was put in contact with a local electrician who also happens to live full time with his wife in a converted Sprinter van.
He roams around our area, Southern Ontario, doing solar installations and other electrical contract jobs. But living in their Sprinter 12 months a year. and he is clearly very expert in the most modern wohnmobile technology.
They stopped overnight at our property so he could look at our JC and help me with a plan to make some upgrades - like new solar panels and aux. batteries at least.
but when he showed me his Sprinter van and his workshop trailer, Now I am very experienced in Wohnmobil workd, but I was astounded.
It has EVERYTHING. switches and pumps and inverters and converters and chargers and solar panels and AC everywhere. Even a chest freezer, a microwave and a television. Satellite internet of course. Everything was automated and interconnected. (even his work desk in the trailer was hydraulic and moved up and down)
Here is a video of their configuration. It is quite amazing.

to save time, there is a highlights section at the very end. starting at 13m30secs.
And after we toured his van setup (which took about one hour), I felt actually a bit embarrassed to show him our JC. By comparison it is so simple. really the only electrical device in the JC is the 42W fridge. and a couple of cabin lights. and I feel perfectly happy with that simplicity.
actually before I saw their elaborate setup, I felt that the JC was in fact very sophisticated.
Now to be fair, there is a big difference between living in a wohmobile 12 months a year (and owning no fixed property at all) and using a JC for a few weeks or months a year on a casual basis, in warm weather.
But I am worried that he is going to propose a very elaborate plan with all kinds of wild upgrades and add ons.
I guess my question is are james Cook people "different" ? that we are happier with something simpler?
are the two worlds in Europe too? the Everything People and the Simpler is Better people?

Don‘t forget:
Your JC was engineered and designed 30 years ago and is still working today.

Re: the value of Simplicity
Danke, für dieses Video - unglaublich, was alles in diesen Anhänger passt.
Sehr gut ausgebaut.
