Help charging starter battery from excess solar power

~Hello,

Has anyone fitted a battery charge splitter such as the Cbe CSB-2?

When the leisure battery is connected to a charger such as a solar setup or mains, and the voltage reaches 13.6 or higher, this device then diverts a charge of between 0.1 and 4 amp to the starter battery.

It is useful for me if I am staying in one place for a long time.

I am just not sure of the best place in the van to fit it.

It has just 3 wires:

1. To the leasure batterys.
2. To the starter battery
3. To earth

Are your starter- and leisure batteries of the same type e.g. Gel/Gel, AGM/AGM?

Hi, I'm not sure about that.

I don't think it matters in this case because the the charge transfer is too small to be relevant to battery types.

Here is the manufacturer info:

Charging current is set from 0.1 to max 4 A, according to the battery conditions.
When the leisure battery voltage is lower than 12.5 V the car battery recharging system is deactivated.
When the green led is on, the device CSB-2 is ready recharge the car battery, if necessary.

Thanks

AGM and Gel batteries should be charged with a higher voltage than standart lead/acid starter battery.

Hi, My starter battery is a lead/acid type, so just the standard type starter battery.
