First, let me introduce myself - I am Vlad from Bulgaria. I own a MB W205 and my love to the brand took me to the T1 and T2 Cooks and Polos!

I just LOVE these old T1 and T2 MBs and I (and the family - wife and son) have no problem with their lower cruise speed 90 - 120 km/hour, as soon as it is comfortable (i.e. AC in the summer, and heater in the cold seasons).
I am looking for opinons and information - which option to take, based on my (and my family) preferences: We want to travel to Greece and the neighbouring countries. I practice spearfishing and I could visit Greece every month for 2- 5 days to dive. The best places for spearfishing are off road places - rocky slopes, sandy beaches with hard access. The distance from our home to the nearest Greek spot is like 350 km, mainly on 1st grade roads (250 km 1 st grade road and 100 km highways - in Greece). One of the routs needs that we take ferries to Samothraki or Thassos islands.
As a diver I would prefer 4x4, and as far as I know the old Cooks and Polos dont offer this feature...
So, I would like to ask the community the following questions about James Cook/Marco Polo:
• Diesel or petrol?
• What is the appr. cruise speed at good road?
• Can it enter ferries, since Greek ferries forbid the access of engines working with LPG and as far as I know the factory Cooks have gas boilers (i.e.one internal van system still is on gas).
• Can they overcome slopey ways in terms of clearance (with the ordinary load)? How they behave on sandy beaches, bad roads, with their 2WD?
• I understand they can't enter underground parking lots. Any other practical/legal restrictions in terms of their height?
• I could not find posts about installing a contemporary air conditioning (either adding batteries and PH pn the roof)... How do you manage at temp 36 – 42 C?
I am looking forward for your comments.
Thanks!
