Heater not working correctly?

Hi all again.
I am trying to make the heater work with no success yet, but I am not sure if it is a problem or not.
It's a JC 1981.
If I send electricity signal straight to the spark plug and to the fuel pump, it works just fine; so I could say that the mechanical part works fine.
The problem is when I connect everything to the main circuit of the Westfalia.
When I turn ON the heater this is what happens:
- the fan starts working fine
- at beginning spark plug gets electricity and starts heating up
- fuel pump does NOT seem to get the signal to work (electricity)
One thing to note is that inside the JC is very hot, because we're on summer here.
I was reading at the manual, and I read that there is a room thermostat inside the JC. Is this true?
If so, could this be causing the problem? It detects that it's too hot inside the vehicle, therefore it doesn't heat up the spark plug and fuel pump?
If all this is true. How can I test if the heater is working fine on summer? does anyone know where is this room thermostat?
thanks!
