Battery charger

Beitrag von Adrianlle » 30.11.2017 12:40

Good Morning from the UK. Can anybody tell me how to test if my battery charger is working. I have just replaced the leisure batteries with 2x Exide ES 950. They are charging ok from the engine. However when I plug in the charger lead the voltage reading stays the same on the screen above the cab. The symbol lights up to show the charger is connected but the reading stays the same. It was probably like that before I changed the batteries but I didn’t notice because I rarely use 240v charging because of my solar panels. So how do I test my charger?

Thank you
Adrian

With a multi meter.
Check the battery volts before hooking up and check after connecting to the mains. You should see 14plus v when charging.

My charger was defective, I had it repaired and it went pop again so now I just use a smart charger. But I barely use it as like you I have solar

Where abouts are you in the UK? There's not many of us with cooks in the UK!

Also have a look for the group westfalia neanderthal vans on Facebook

Thanks Jason. It is now working again so fingers crossed. Where are you based? I am in Somerset about an hour from Bristol. This is my second Cook- this one a 316cdi auto which is so smooth. I will look up the forum you mention. About to post now about a sliding step that has come my way. Adrian

There's two of us with cooks here

Mines a 98 and my mate huw has an 05

Odd seeing two together having not seen another since buying mine years ago!

The Facebook page is handy
