Kuhlbox does not cool
Kuhlbox does not cool
sigh, well this is unwelcome news (as I am trying to confirm systems are working correctly for the summer)
as I work through my electrical upgrade, today as I tried to load test the battery system, I turned on the 12v fridge / Kühlschrank
and now, after 4 hours, even though I can hear the fan running,
but the compressor is not vibrating.
and the Snowflake symbol is flashing
as I recall, it seemed to be working correctly back in December when we first received this JC.
are there troubleshooting tips out here for 12v fridges?

Re: Kühlschrank question
You might want to look under coolbox in this forum. In that post, there is a link to a company in Germany that specializes in these fridges. Here is the link to that company - https://www.cool-and-more.de/ They appear to still be in business.
It's easy enough to open the little door below the fridge, and remove a panel to see the compressor and fan. Apparently the first step in the diagnosis is to determine if the compressor is still running. Apparently you can tell by putting your hand on it to feel a vibration. Also look for leakage of refrigerant. It may be a pinhole and there may be a bit of green discoloration around the leak. It's a pretty tight space, so an in situ leak repair and recharge might not be easy.
I have replaced a noisy fan in the fridge. Mine was a run-of-the-mill desktop computer fan, but small hands are a bonus in this repair. (mine are extra-large). If I remember correctly, I had to make a small tool to hold the mounting bolts.

Re: Kühlschrank question
looking this morning, when I turn the kuhlbox on I hear the fan running. but the compressor is not vibrating.
and the snowflake symbol is flashing. (which I believe indicates a malfunction)
is there anyway to narrow what the source of that malfunction might be?
the Snowflake seems to flash in a pattern: 3, 2, 2, 1, 3, 1.... etc.
but the pattern doesn't seem to be perfectly repeating.
does that pattern indicate the source of the malfunction?
when I remove the access panel, everything looks clean, there is no sign of green discoloration.

Re: Kuhlbox does not cool
I found some old posts here that seem relevant to my kuhlbox problems
it doesn't sound as if I should jump to immediate conclusions that the compressor needs to be replaced
(one member found that his fuse was just loose)
it could also be that my auxiliary batteries are too low (though while old and probably need to be replaced, they are at about 12.4V which should run the kuhlbox)
I am going to try these diagnostic tests
Here you can find a self analysis program for the fridge:
https://wimkoelman.files.wordpress.com/ ... agnose.pdf
But one member mentioned a "Compressor DirectStart"
"Beim Punkt " Direktstart Kompressor", passiert gar nichts. "
is that some kind of special test of the compressor?

Re: Kuhlbox does not cool
Did you try already these tests?
Re: Kuhlbox does not cool
If the voltage is to low, the compressor won t start.
Re: Kuhlbox does not cool
when I tried the kuhlbox with the motor off the aux batteries were at 12.6v
now, with the engine running they show 14.1v but I still have the flashing snowflake symbol
the Scribd file looks helpful
but it requires a subscription.
could you attach a copy of it here in the forum?

Hi Peter,
Du hast doch bestimmt alle Sicherungen geprüft - auch die unter der Küchenarbeitsplatte, im Bereich des unteren Bettes
