Presentation JC 316 2006 "Beluga Superior"

Beitrag von portobelin » 25.04.2025 23:53

Hello everyone, I would like to introduce myself.
I am Marco, the proud owner of a 2006 James Cook since a few months.
Previously I have always been a faithful Westfalia outfitter.
My first vehicle was an old 1982 Joker, later I had a 1981 Sven Hedin, a 1990 Atlantic, kept for 15 years, then a 1996 James Cook, and now this new, magnificent model.
I love long trips and free stops in nature.
I dedicate a lot of time to small modifications to improve the autonomy and liveability of our beloved vehicle.
I recently discovered this forum and I know I will find many ideas and passionate and competent people.
I will also be happy to share the work done and my opinions resulting from 22 years of experience on Westfalia.

Here is the list of works done on the Beluga Superior:
- Installation of 4 solar panels for a total power of 400 W
- Installation of Victron accessories:
Solar charge regulator, 30 A dc-dc, smart shunt, power inverter with a selector to power the internal 220v sockets
- installation of 2 LiFePo 200 ah service batteries
- connection with a non-return diode from the solar control unit to the engine battery
- conversion of the manual control of the electric roof window (the old original remote control no longer worked)
- Installation of LED lights:
Under the arms of the external awning, inside the furniture with magnetic ignition control, under the edge of the kitchen, on the ceiling of the driver's cabin, in all the original spotlights, in the rear compartment to provide light when I shower outside
- Installation of a Pioneer subwoofer in front of the passenger seat
- Installation of an original bike rack on the rear door supports
- Installation of a rear view camera with a display visible from the driver's dashboard
- conversion of the wardrobe into 3 shelves
- Installation of a shelf in the furniture underneath the sink
- creating a shaped shoe rack under the passenger seat
- creating a bracket to install the table outside on the sliding door side.

I spent many hours of work and gained a lot of experience (and many curses) to disassemble and reassemble everything to pass cables in the cleanest and least invasive way possible, but I still have many ideas and I know that in this forum I will find great inspiration.

Best regards to everyone!
Marco
