replacing GEL batteries (and more?)

Beitrag von pjstock » 14.05.2025 00:48

Here's a bigger one.

I finally got a quote to "upgrade" my electrical system, from a professional RV electrician.

Total quote is 8000euros.
most of that is new equipment: almost 2000 euros for a new Victron 300AH LiFerPo battery (which apparently is top of the line)
also a new Victron 115v 12v charger and inverter (combination)
new 3x100W solar panels and converter

But here's my question
on the one hand, after nearly 20 years, this upgrade is probably long over due and valuable for the future.
However, I rested my current 2x 85AH Gel batteries twice.
the first test, using a Load Tester (which simulates a load on the batterY they seemed to test Okay (see attached photo of the tester)

but a 2nd test, not a load test, but on a more sophisticated seeming Tester, seemed to say "Replace" or "Bad" on any of the Battery Standard settings (CCA, IEC, SAE, EN, DIN, CA).

I was going to ask if anyone knows what testing standard I should use on these Exide GEL batteries?
