I had to rush to put my JC into winter storage. when the first freeze comes here everyone with a boat or a wohnmobil of any kind panics and scrambles for the very limited number of indoor storage spaces. and the storage people want everything packed away before the big snow hits (and they can no longer open the barn doors)
So Tuesday I found a spot and Wednesday I had to drive 2 hours to install it.

I "think" I had winterized things correctly (drained the fresh water, drained the water heater, drained the waste water, left the various taps open, antifreeze down the drains - did I forget anything?)

But one thing I know I forgot was to empty the hose to the shower head in the bathroom
I would like to avoid the 2x2 = 4 hour drive to go back and do that. (it's back to positive temperatures for this week.)

if there is water in the bottom of that hose loop will it explode over the winter??

was hast Du mit den Batterien gemacht? abgeklemmt oder ein Ladegerät zur Erhaltungsladung dran? Auch Frostschutz in den Behälter für das Scheibenwaschwasser oder diesen komplett entleert.
An den Schlauch im Badezimmer für die Dusche habe ich selbst noch nie gedacht.....guter Tip. Aber es ist auch noch nie etwas passiert und wie willst Du ihn komplett entleeren, ein kleiner Bogen bleibt ja immer, sonst müßte man den Schlauch unter dem Waschtisch abschrauben, was ja ziemlicher Aufwand ist. Ich denke, der Schlauch ist so flexibel, daß er ein Einfrieren erträgt. Unsere Außenwasseranlagen am Haus machen wir für den Winter fest, indem wir sie mit Druckluft durchpusten, aber beim James haben wir das noch nicht gemacht. Man wundert sich, wieviel Feuchtigkeit aus den Schläuchen noch rauskommt. Unsere Vorbesitzer haben den Wagen auch im Winter immer noch aufgebockt, um eine Reifenverformung zu verhindern, wir haben immer den Luftdruck in den Reifen etwas erhöht und gut.
Auch bei uns in Niedersachsen ist der Frühwinter eingebrochen und unsere eigentlich für diese Woche noch geplante letzte Tour der Saison haben wir gecancelled, da wir dem Wagen kein Streusalz zumuten wollen, da er noch nicht hohlraumkonserviert ist.

I did finally drive back over to the barn and checked the James again yesterday.

I had disconnected the battery.
(But I noticed that the fellow parked next to me had removed his battery completely)

I didn't add any antifreeze to our windshield washer fluid.
Isn't windshield fluid already "anti freeze" ? We use the same stuff in our daily car and just leave it out all winter.
Maybe it's a "Canadian" thing
But winter in Europe can be freezing too....

The manual actually describes the "water draining" steps and specifies "pull the shower handle out as far as possible and hang the head from the hanger"
(Though I am not sure how that drains the little bit of water that might be standing in the hose)

Protecting the tires would make good sense.
Too late for me .

My fingers are crossed for this winter and maybe I can devise a compressed air blower for next year

Peter, wenn Du den Duschkopf abschraubst, kannst Du vielleicht den Schlauch mit einem aufgeblasenen Luftballon leerdrücken ...

Aber Du bist ja schon wieder zuhause. Nächstes Mal vielleicht.
