loses Kabel im Heck

Hallo,

I was curious myself, and my research shows that it was a plug used in the original chassis to power a dome light in the back, probably activated automatically by a door switch. The red wire is 12v and the brown wire is the ground. Westfalia just left it there, maybe assuming that it might be useful for us folks. I think I will add a light with a manual switch for those late night arrivals at a campground.

I believe Hajeck was asking about the cable and connector as shown in the first photo. It has nothing to do with the extra cabinetry in the second photo. My 1998 James Cook has the exact same loose cable and plug, with constant 12v power even with the ignition turned off and the driving lights turned off.

You measure 12V (or 13.xV) because you are always measuring with the rear doors open.
There is a switch on the right-hand side that is activated when the right rear door is closed, thereby cutting off the voltage.
That particular cable is therefore ideally suited for powering a light in the storage compartment beneath the bathroom.
