Which battery powers radio/cd?

Hello

After a long search we have recently bought a 2003 James Cook and are certain it was a good choice.

We are about to go for our first long (4week) trip in it and have an unusual question. The speakers in the kitchen area combined with the cd player on the dashboard sound very good, but if we use them for a long time while parked up will they drain the main van battery? Or do they take their power from the leisure batteries?

If it is from the main battery, how long should be limit their use to?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Cmc,

we have a James Cook 2001, there is the powersupply for the radio from the main van battery.
I have no experience how long the radio can be used before the battery is empty.
I think it will be no problem, if you run the engine some times.

Best regards

JOM

Hi,

Regarding your question it is right that the main battery supplies radio and CD. How long you can run your audio system depense on loudness, amount of speakers, audio systems, age of battery ...

If you install a selector switch between main and on-board batteries you have a choice which battery you are runnig down  The installed AC/DC charger on-board isn't powerful enough to charge the main battery.

Good luck
Oliver

Hi

Thank you very much for the replies and suggestions. My wife was considering bringing whether to bring a separate CD player but I think we will just use the one in the van.

Thanks again
