Moin,

I am fininishing my project for a convertible auxiliary fresh water storage tank. My design goal was to design a system that is user friendly in which one can select which of the two water tanks to draw water from. The auxiliary tank adds about 49 litres of fresh water capacity. It can also be easily removed if cargo capacity is desired. Total project cost of about $300 USD.

I wrote a 7-part blog posts for this project from the initial idea to final configuration of the almost finished project. http://eat-drink-men-women.blogspot.com ... art-1.html

Martin,

Thanks for the comment. I agree 100 litres is quite a lot of water. I treasure the water when I am camping, and a tank often last me over a week, and this including cooking all the meals. Some times I visits cities or travelling on long journey, it can be hard to replenish the water and this auxiliary tank will come in handy. I was staying in New Orleans last winter for over a week, and eventually I have to leave the city to find a state park to refill the water. Having more water capacity I can reduce the need of driving around to find water. Also it is a good feeling that you know you have two full tanks driving into the Death Valley https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_Valley infested by thirsty German tourists  . It is rather like riding into Das finstere Tal https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Das_finstere_Tal with a superior Yankee Winchester rifle  .
