Looks very nice. Couple of questions.

1. Rather than 670mm wide, description says 668mm wide. Is this to allow for expansion and contraction?

2. Top lip flange is described as either 15mm or 20mm?

3. What is height of sides? Third photograph seems to suggest 34mm high but shower hose thread photograph looks higher.

4. In shower hose thread, you indicated you got the wrong size drain and had to cut away some portion? But shower pan was right?

5. Did you use anything to stick pan down?

Thanks!

Note: K320 is a type of stainless steel finish. It's apparently the most common finish. 304 is the type of stainless steel. Again, a common type.1.4301 and V2A are apparently other names for 304. Nrio means ???

Hallo Old West,

"Niro" in german means: "Nirosta" = Nicht Rostend.
In english "will Never Rust"

1. The seller recommended to order the pan some mm smaller, to make sure that it fits. But the description is wrong, I wanted to have it 1mm smaller each side (809mmx669mm). But it is not necessary, you can order it in 810mmx670mm)
2. I did not measure it, bit I think it is 15mm.
3. The third photograph is some random drawing from the seller, it is a mistake. As I said in the shower hose thread, I ordered the wrong height. I ordered 65mm, but if you look at the drawing from Ciril(first picture in ebay), 65mm is the height including the shower drain. 50mm is the right height,
4. See answer 3. The shower pan needs to be pushed under the toilet (it overlaps 10mm), this was not possible because the height of my new pan is 65mm instead of 50mm.
5. I used some random indoor glue from the DIY store and put some water boxes over night in the pan.

You are right, 1.4301 and V2A are german names for 304.

SirJames: Thank you for the detailed information. Very handy. With that information and Ciril's drawing, a NAFTA owner on this side of the Atlantic might be able to emulate (we have a different shower pan but some want to convert to James Cook style). I think the stainless steel looks nice and will last longer. Will also link and copy your information to our Sprinter-Source forum thread.

Compound: Thanks for translation of Niro as never rust. EBay or I must have had a typo as Nrio so couldn't get a translation.

You‘re welcome!
I am glad that you like my solution and that it could possibly help other people with the same problem on the other side of the „big pond“.

What is the difference between the NAFTA version and the James Cook pan?

The NAFTA version has a Thetford Bravura toilet which sits on a raised platform and empties into a black tank under the bathroom floor (using the underfloor storage space).

The NAFTA shower pan covers the entire bathroom floor, including under the toilet.

As the grass is greener on the other side of the fence, some NAFTA owners wish we had the European James Cook version with a Thetford bench cassette toilet and no black tank (so more available storage and more dumping options).

Photos are in this thread where a NAFTA owner took the NAFTA shower pan, cut it down to fit a cassette toilet, kept part of the raised pedestal, and fiberglassed the cutout pedestal portion. A lot of work!

You have to sign up for a free account to see photographs but worthwhile. You'll see that the James Cook Friends Forum founder is hanging out in the subforum.

Note: This Westy (NAFTA version) was manufactured in Germany and exported to the USA, then went back to Germany for a couple of years (had to be re-modified to fit German standards) before returning to the USA--same owner.

This blog has photos you can see with a before and after cassette toilet conversion. This owner cut out the pedestal entirely.

Hallo Zusammen,
