Hi everyone,
I’m a newcomer on the forum (but not a German speaker) and a happy owner of a James Cook / Sprinter 903 built in the Year 2000. I’ve seen model #906 are usually equipped with a slide-out step on the lateral door. May a nice forum member have experience adapting such a device on #903? Any feedback or recommendation is welcome regarding device model/fitting with chassis/ground clearance/automation coupling with the door opening.
Kind regards
Camum from France

Hi Camum,
welcome to this wonderful community - do not hesitate to write in english, there are many guys understanding you.
Two of them did that what you want to do:

I hope you‘ll get some helpful information - have a nice time with your new domicile. Is it already allowed in France to go on the road with a camper?
Best regards from Hamburg,
Carsten

Many thanks, Netsrac, very useful.
In southwest of France where I live it will be authorized to travel without justification within a 100 km range around your home by coming Monday May 11th. We are looking forward to do so ... in James Cook of course.
Situation looks better in Germany, isn’t it ?

Sprintshift. 2x 80 WP Solar Modul.

Re: Slide out Step
Greetings from the U.K. It is possible to do this. There used to be an Omnistep fitting kit specifically for the 903 Sprinter, but it is no longer available. So I bought an omnistep and from eBay also bought a fitting kit for an early Ducati and then cannibalised some of the parts. I am afraid I can’t now remember what exactly but when I next crawl u see the Van I will try to take some photographs. It is a very useful addition as I also made a removable section of floor that infills the Sprinter step. So it increases the floor area wiring the step was easy. Mine is operated by a switch on the B panel in front of the sliding door and I have a relay so that it retracts automatically when the engine is started.

Hi Adrianlle
Your arrangement sounds great!
I found many occurrences of Omnistep adaptation kit for sprinter w906 but none for w903. I understand from you it's not manufactured anymore.
Looking forward to see pictures.
