Cabin blower fan does not work

Beitrag von Deomer » 15.06.2020 23:29

I have a '99 James Cook and the cabin blower fan has just stopped working. It does not work in any position (1-4), so it's not the resistor. I've checked the fuses under the steering wheel and they're all OK. Any tips on what it could be and how to test it? I have a multimeter if it helps. Thanks!

Hi,

why are you so shure, that it is not the resistor?

I had a similar problem, and it was the resistor.

Interesting, did it also not work at full speed? I've had problems with resistors before (in another car, not the James Cook) but the blower would work fine at top speed, I was under the impression that if the resistor is bad the fan should work at full speed. Maybe not?

Hi guys,

we had nearly the same issue last days.
As we removed the switch we could see there was a little metal plate not based on the right position anymore. We have glued the metal plate back in the correct position and everything was working.

Maybe that’s could be your problem too.

Best Stephan

I got it working again.

I removed the motor by unscrewing the 3 philips screws, then connected it directly to the battery, and it worked. I measured voltage at the plug coming from inside the car and the 12V were there. There was some corrosion on the plug, so I guess that's what was causing the problem.
