Has anyone installed Victron BVM712 battery monitor?

Greetings from the U.K. Has anyone installed the Victron battery monitor / smart shunt? If so where did you put it and how did you connect it so as to retain the existing Westfalia 100A shunt ( which feeds the central overhead display)? I just can’t figure out how to do it. Thanks

Hi.
It very simple, just connect it as it should, after the instructions and just seat the shunt on top of the batteries. Regarding the 100 amp camper shunt it works anyway, you don't need to think about it.
The small round display can be placed anywhere even if you place it behind the panels. You don't need to see it as you can connect it via Bluetooth, wich by the way is very easy and convenient.

Thanks for this. I’ve been trying to work out where to put the Victron shunt plus a new negative bus bar and what to do about the existing 100A shunt. If I understand your solution you have secured the Victron shunt to the top of the battery case ; then run a 25A cable from the battery negative to the battery side of the Victron shunt; then another thick cable from the load side of the Victron to one end of a new busbar secured to the battery too; then a thick cable from the other end of the busbar to the battery side of the 100A Westfalia shunt; then the negatives from any new loads to the new busbar. So that existing loads flow through the 100A shunt and then ( with any new loads such as solar etc) via the busbar through the Victron shunt to the battery negatives. Is that right? If so 2 questions. First, is the accuracy of the Victron shunt affected by having the 100A in line with it? Second, how did you secure the Victron shunt and the busbar to the battery case? I had thought about vhb tape but did you screw into the casing or what ?Thank you- I can see a way forward now.

1- The shunt, wired this way, is very aquarate, there is not problem with the van 100amp shunt.
2- Actually you could fix the shunt, using double sided tape or on my case, just seat it freely on top of the batteries. The weight and pressure of the cables holds it tight in place.
