Ian - did you manage to get to the cracks on the front and bathroom window? Can you maybe share some information on how you did it?
Also - did you end up replacing the windows because the sikaflex solution did not work or was it some other resaon?
Yiisch - you said you have the service manual. Could you maybe share it
Any help would be appreciated

Re: Cracks in black plastic window frames
Ian, I am curious how this process of window frame replacement went? Satisfied with the result?
Do you happen to have any photos of these cracks beforehand? I am also in Canada, and considering importing a 2008 JC...but trying to get a better sense what to look for since doing an in-person inspection is not really possible.

Re: Cracks in black plastic window frames
The cracks on my JC were at the top hinges. A bad place of course! Mercedes Canada has an affiliated high-end body repair shop called Mitec.
They repaired the frames by bonding new plastic above and below each crack. Attached are a couple of images. The bond they used is not available in stores and is extremely strong.
This was done 18 months ago. Their comment is that this should be a "permanent" fix. We shall see over time of course.
I hope this helps.

Re: Cracks in black plastic window frames
If you are going to import one to Canada, you could always order new window frames in fibreglass from Westfalia and replace the ABS plastic ones. It's not trivial but it's one and done. Depending on the specific cracks on the frames you might be forever trying to stop the cracks spreading. The fibreglass ones are night and day difference in build quality.tomwithfilm hat geschrieben: ↑29.03.2025 16:25Ian, I am curious how this process of window frame replacement went?
