Heating error - how to get codes?
Heating error - how to get codes?
Hi,
My heating seems to have died. It was working just fine, however in the middle of the night it stopped and now will not fire up. It starts the process (pump is priming, the jet fan noise starts) but then stops and tries again and then gives up. There is a bit of smoke the first time it tries. I have a warning triangle in the display, and if I press Up and Down on the display I see the heating wavy lines with a line through it, but I cannot find a way to get the actual error codes to diagnose this. I'm sure this is already covered elsewhere, but how do I get the actual error codes to display? Because I am using a translated version of the site it is hard to find a post with the details. Help!
Thanks

Re: Heating error - how to get codes?
Simply press all three buttons at once for a few seconds (the both arrows and the round one of the wheel) and you will enter the service menu. Then select the warning triangle to see the codes.

Re: Heating error - how to get codes?
yes - had the same code when mine did not work - It was the fuel pump inside the heater in my case.

ACHTUNG: Nach 10-maligem, aufeinander folgenden Wiedereinschaltversuch mit diesem Fehler als Reaktion, geht die Standheizung in Betriebssperre
Lösung
Brennstoff/Dieseltank auffüllen

The tank is just over 1/2 full now, but the van is parked on an angle with the rest lower than the front. If this is the problem I would be surprised but it is worth looking at as a fix.
How much was the fuel pump repair?
Thanks!

Re: Heating error - how to get codes?
Hard to tell as my burner-chamber was also not ok. Payed 500€ for the repair but unmounted it myself. Where are you located? I have a good address in Hamburg where you could send it to, Eberspächer Distribution and Mercedes Dealer. The only one who was really able to locate the problem. Mine is still there because Eberspächer has issues producing replacement parts.

Re: Heating error - how to get codes?
Hi,
Thanks for the response. Eberspacher have a repair guy in my area but he is not returning calls.
I found this company and called them https://startermotorsalternators.com/eb ... cher-D4-5W
They will totally dismantle and service it, but they cannot test it with the MB ECU but they think they can test with a non Westfalia ECU and then replace mine after testing. But the price seems very reasonable for a rebuild.
I'll try Butlertecnik too. The fun part is going to be removing it now!
Thanks!
