220 volt shore power

Beitrag von lunatic » 11.04.2023 07:36

Can someone clarify please. When the shore power is plugged into the mains 220 volt at a campsite, what does the power enable?

If there is no air conditioning unit, my assumption is that the 220 volt mains plug in just services:

1. Wall outlet sockets

2. Charging the leisure batteries through a converter. 220v to 12v.

Is this correct, or is there more?

Thank you,

Ian

Good morning! In the factory setup there also is an uncontrolled trickle charge of the engine batterie out of the powerconverter.
Many converters take 110v as well to do their jobs.

I replaced the weak (10A max) and somewhat unreliable factory charger with a state of the art 20A Victron charger to the leisure batteries and a separate small but controlled Bosch charger to take care of the engine battery especially during the time in storage.

Hi Ian,

all electrical itrems ( fridge, heater, piump, lighting ) are connected on 12V
When 220V is connected , the converter 220V to 12 V charges the leisure batteries but also powers all electrical items.

It could be some converters burn ...
