Toilet door - shake, rattle and roll

We are new to JC ownership and our learning curve is steep.

One issue we are having is the rattling noise from the sliding toilet door when driving along (mostly of course on a rougher road). We have the door tightly closed when driving and have even stuffed a few cloths around the bottom and left side.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what can be done?

Thanks,

Ian

Congratulations on your JC ownership! 😃
Is the toilet door opening and closing without problems?
Just making noice when driving is the problem?🤔
I don’t recognize this problem.
Just problems with the door when the top rail breaks, but the opening and closing is difficult/ impossible too.

Good luck!

Hans

Hi Ian,

don´t have that problem either. But I saw that there is a spare part offered which may solve that problem:

Not sure if it really helps but maybe worth a try.

Kind regards,
Markus

Guten Morgen!

Thanks for all the ideas. Once we get the JC back in our driveway in Canada we will investigate further.

Netsailer mentions that you can adjust the height an orientation of the door. I will have a look. If anyone could give me a photo of where that adjustment is, that would be great.

Our bathroom sliding door closer tightly and seems firmly in place. It is a little hard to open sometimes. Maybe that is a clue to a problem?

Hi Ian,

here you find the instruction to the slidingdoor in detail:
https://forum.james-cook-freunde.de/vie ... =30#p55648

As you can see, the upper part is fixed in place through some oval holes and can be adjusted this way before all screws are tightened.

Thank you for the link. Quite the list of posts. We do have a spare rail to take to Canada, as we knew it could break.

Does anyone have any photos or instructions of the replacement process?

Thanks, Ian

hi Lunatic,

How is your door closed maintained ?

A flexible magnetic tape is all iover the pilar and the door; I drive door closed with no noise.

When the JC arrives in Canada in late July, the first thing I am going to do is check the rail to see if broken, the magnetic door strip and also the lintel adjusting screw.

The door works fine and is smooth, so I am hoping that the rail is not broken. I do have a new rail with me. I have read the instructions from Wolfgang, which are excellent. I still hope that I do not have to do the job..............

So thanks for all the feedback and ideas. I will report back late July. I may need some more help then.

Ian
