Alternative zu Seabridge
Alternative zu Seabridge
Hi,
Gruss
Dieter (ich würd ja gern mal wieder rüber)

Re: Alternative zu Seabridge
Hello, I am planning to ship my new (to me) James Cook from Antwerp to the USA next month, so I will let you know what I find our as far as pricing. Regards, Chris
Re: Alternative zu Seabridge
try ivssuk.com I hear quite good things about them
Re: Alternative zu Seabridge
I shipped via Seabridge last November (2024)
Antwerp to Halifax
I also got a quote from IVSSUK
Quotes are attached here.
the initial Seabridge quote was for about 2750 euros
based on the same specs (dimensions) the initial IVSSUK quote was 3438 euros plus some small additional fees on the Canadian side
In the end I booked with Seabridge (largely because IVSSUK went radio silent for several weeks as I was trying to finalize my shipment. My emails had gone into their SPAM folder apparently)
In the end my shipping dimensions turned out to be bigger. and I wound up paying Seabridge. 3562 euros plus 300euros insurance
so the cost I think was fairly similar
to note though - Seabridge is mostly organised to do 2-way shipping. My one way surprised them a bit.
their documentation was VERY thorough. but maybe overly thorough. in the 40 or so pages of travel tips, some of the really key information (like being sure to have a paper copy of certain documents in hand when you go to the port to pickup) were buried and easy to overlook (I missed this step completely)
their shipping manual is geared to the 2-way tourist shipper.
Plus Seabridge was VERY particular / difficult about the documentation and steps for dropoff in Antwerp.
My seller was dropping off but they wanted his passport and proof of ownership and a yellow safety vest. which made his life difficult
IVSSUK didn't require any of those things.
and I found that Seabridge eventually got a bit fed up with the many many questions that a first time, one time amateur shipper like me kept sending them.

Re: Alternative zu Seabridge
Hi Peter,
was mir bei der Seabridge Rechnung auffällt: Die Länge und die Höhe des Autos erscheinen mir zu gering.
Wahrscheinlich kommt der spätere Aufpreis daher.

Re: Alternative zu Seabridge
exactly
When I first asked for quotes, I was estimating from dimensions I had read online (obviously erroneously)
5mx1.88mx2.8m = 26,32m3
the final invoice showed dimensions:
5.65x1.93x3.15m = 34,35m3
But I asked IVSSUK to quote from the same original dimensions (26.32m3) so possibly their final invoice would also have increased by a similar percentage
