Re: Installing a new secret USB port!!
I just want to add that in my experience, all the iPhones as well as iPad that I own ever since my first iPhone 3GS will charge, operate, and charge and operate on all my Apples chargers including the 1A charger that came with the 3GS. This including the current iPhone 6S Plus. Additionally all these devices also do same on third party auto USB chargers go back as far as the 1.2A one I bought for the for the 3GS. They all do same too on all the dual port auto USB chargers that have a 1A and 2.1A ports, on either ports.
I infer the charge controller inside the iOS devices reads the resister straps as mentioned in the Maxim white paper and draws only what the charger is capable. I have not spent time to read the paper or other relevant documents to verify this however

Re: Installing a new secret USB port!!
Hi Wolfgang, yes you are correct, the led light in the usb would drain the battery . I took the original photo of the usb socket as an example, but when i actually installed it into the van, I fitted a normal cigarette socket instead, and use a usb adapter when needed. Then there is no battery drain when it is not being used.wocrafter hat geschrieben:Die Idee, die USB - Steckdose in den Getränkehalter einzubauen finde ich gar nicht so schlecht.
Nur sehe ich da ein Problem mit der - nicht - (oder noch nicht) manuell abschaltbaren Stromzufuhr.
Ich sehe schon die Frage im Forum nach Verbrauchern die die Akkus leer saugen
Gruß Wolfgang
Greetings, Ivor
