Heater won't start (English topic)

Hi all,

In my 310 1994 JC I have two issues I would love some help with.

2. My heater won't start, it keeps making a ticking noise.

I suppose you mean the Diesel combusting air heating, not the water heating? Then you should try whether it will start, when the engine is running. In that case the batterie(s) are too weak, not enough voltage. You should check, whether they are charged by the generator or whether they reached the end of their lifetime...

Your dieselheater is a "Eberspächer D2L"
Ask Google for "D2L manual" and you will find lots of documents about installation and repairs.

My suggestions:
Maybe the temperatureswitch on the combustionchamber is broken or the current in the batteries is to low.

When i turn on the heater, all it does is make a ticking noise. There is no actual heating going on, it seems like it doesn't ignite/start.

Has the heater run before propperly or are you the new owner of the car?

You have to wait 2-3 minutes until the heater starts producing warm air.
Either the air gets warm or the heater will shut down itself after 3 minutes because the combustion didn't start.
Don't expect immediate heat from the old oven.

Are you turning off the heater manualy or does it shut down automaticly?
Is the exhaust of the heater smoking/smelling (outside of the car on the drivers side)?
Can you read the current of the batteries?
Is diesel in the fueltank?
Is the tube of the heaters hot air connected to the car (look unter the car)?
Have you made changes on the heater and its fuel supply?

I took it for a long drive and after the drive it worked for about 3-4minutes, only blew out cold air and shut off shortly after.

If the heater is smoking out of the exhaust AND autmaticly shuts down after 3-4 minutes, the following sensor is probably broken (Eberspächer #251534010002):

If it does NOT smoke out of the exhaust, you must check the fuel supply, combustion chamber, etc.

Os sorprendería comprobar como en tiendas convencionales de electrónica, de cualquier ciudad, podríais encontrar muchos de los elementos de reparación o sustitución de nuestras instalaciones... aquí os dejo un enlace del termostato concreto (+/- 7€)

The weird thing is, I don't hear it ignite anywhere? The heater runs on Diesel correct? When I switch to the ventilating stand, it does keep running for a longer time.

You can not hear the ignition and the combustion, you can only see the smoke from the EXHAUST OUTSIDE OF THE CAR!!!

Have you read the D2L repair manual?
Have you checked the SENSOR INSIDE THE HEATER?
You have to work under your car and open the large black heater.
