Battery symbol flashing on central control panel

Greetings from the UK. Next week we are supposed to be leaving on a big trip and today I’ve been testing out all the systems after winter hibernation. I have a problem with the fridge. When switched on the fridge symbol just flashes in the central control panel. Also it won’t switch off using the panel- I have to turn off the entire electric system under the draining hatch. The batteries ( lifepo)) are 100 % and showing 14.4v. I’ve also tried turning off the solar. What causes the symbol to flash? Could it be over voltage? Any help appreciated as if I can’t sort it out then we will have to cancel the trip. Thanks.

Thank you Thomas. I’m beginning to think we will have to abandon our trip to Scotland. Last year we abandoned it because of an urgent medical operation for a pet. This year it would be the fridge. The frustration is that for some time I’ve thought that I should make a trip to Cool and More to replace it just in case ….!

wegen dem Kühlschrank würde ich doch die Schottlandreise nicht absagen.
Früher hatten wir in den Campingbussen auch keine Kühlmöglichkeit und sind trotzdem durch ganz Europa gekommen.

Hallo Adrian,
Ich hatte das auch schon. Bei uns war es damals die Sicherung unten im Steuergerät direkt am Kühlschrank (ich glaube 20A). Das passiert wohl manchmal. Ursache habe ich keine gefunden. Seit dem Austausch funktioniert der Kühlschrank aber wieder und die Sicherung hat es bisher auch nicht wieder erwischt.

Thanks Thomas. In fact I think I’ve now sorted it but only time will tell. The flashing symbol on the Cental Electrics has no pattern to it. So after researching the web I connected a led test light to 2 of the terminals of the danfoss control unit. That diagnostic gave me 5 blinks every 4 seconds. Armed with that info I then telephoned a marine refrigeration specialist ( Campervan dealers no use because in UK mostly absorption fridges). He thought it likely to be the Control Unit and was able to send me a replacement for next day delivery. Fitting it took longer than it should because I didn’t know that the fixing screw to the Compressor has to be turned clockwise not anti clockwise to release the old uni! I’ve had it running for a couple of days now and touch wood seems ok. So off to Scotland in a couple of days for 3 weeks.

Matthias , see my reply to Thomas. One thing however is that I couldn’t find a 15A fuse in or near the Control Unit. Only at position 6 of the fuse box behind the seat. Where exactly is this other fuse?
