How to disassemble water tap?

Hi all,

I have a JC 1981.

I am having troubles with the water faucets in both, the kitchen and the bathroom.

So I have 2 problems:
1- they are not sealing completely, if I push air into it with both taps closed, air passes through it, so I guess some rubber or something must be changed.
2- also, it seems like either kitchen or bathroom faucet is always activating the water pump.

Can someone post a picture of the original water pump that came with the Westfalia please? Because I'm pretty sure that previous owner changed it by a cheap one. The original water pump, does it have pressure check? or it's just started electronically without checking the water pressure?

As for the water pump, I use a Whale GP1352 (13 ltrs/mn), it works like a charm (http://www.whalepumps.com/rv/siteFiles/ ... pRange.pdf) :

From what I remember, the original Westfalia pump was also 13 ltrs/mn.

Hi Cesarmax,

Westfalia installed the "Comet VIP" in the James Cook.
It is a submersible pump, that delivers 16 Liters at 12VDC.
Other Westfalia campers are equipped with this pump too and it should be easy to find a sparepart in europe.

There is no pressure switch and no pressuretank like in other RVs.
There are small switches in the tubs, which turn the pump on and off, when you open or close the valves.

Probably the old tubs can't be repaired and should be replaced by something more durable.

OK, sorry for the 13 ltrs info, I guess the pump I changed wasn't the original one. By the way, 13 ltrs seems enough for me, shower works fine.

the one you have does 13lts/min
the one I have does 6.3lts/min

so looking at online shops, it looks like lot of them use the one I have.

I saw another ones that does 19lts/min but I'm wondering if too much power could cause malfunctionality.

so I first want to fix the problem on the fauce, and once it starts working correctly I'll check out how the water pump is working

OK, so 16lts per minute is what I need then.

The one I have is approx. 7lts/min so it's not good enough.

I will try either repairing the tubs, or try to find new ones. It's not easy to find those type of tubs in south america, since I live in Argentina.
So I see 2 options:

1- replace current mechanism by a mono/single command with a pressure sensor water pump
2- try to repair existing tubs
3- get a new pair of tubs with this same mechanism => could anyone tell me a link in which there is one of these so I know exactly what to look for here in my country?
