Help removing Isri seat knob
Help removing Isri seat knob
I have just done Carsten’s modification to the passenger seat and it is very comfortable. Now I want to replace the side panel of the seat with another TN1 panel I have which
contains a knob for longitudinal adjustment. But I cannot remove the orange knob on my existing seat panel- see the photo below. Can anyone help me with removing the orange knob please? AdrianRe: Help removing Isri seat knob
Die Betätigungshebel sind nur aufgesteckt.
Alle sagten: Das geht nicht.
Dann kam einer, der wusste das nicht und hats gemacht [/b]) 316CDI EZ: 03.2006. Sprintshift. 2x 80 WP Solar Modul.

Re: Help removing Isri seat knob
Epeg, I am not sure how the operating lever is attached. If I pull it up or pull it towards me then it remains fixed. I do not want to snap it. So do you know how it is removed? Thanks. Adrian
Re: Help removing Isri seat knob
Adrian,
the knob is snapped on the carrier. I'm afraid pulling it of will destroy the clips inside the carrier. So it's better to disassemble the metal sheet which covers the side if the seat and try to push back the clipses inside the carrier. I didn't do that so I don't know if it works - it's only an idea. But I have that new knob for horizontal adjustment for my passenger seat here on my table and I can look inside.
Best regards, Carsten

Re: Help removing Isri seat knob
Thanks Carsten. Today long journey to collect a Riese and Müller electric bike and made a detour to Isri Uk service centre. They could not remove the knob and did not know how to! Then in my email box now is a reply from Isri HQ in Germany, who I also asked for assistance. They say that it is not possible to remove the knob without breaking it, as it has to be me levered down. But they do not know if a replacement knob is available from Mercedes. See photo of the knob. Do you know if the knob is available?
I may have to resort to leaving the metal panel in place and making a square hole to take the new horizontal red knob. Have you any thoughts how we might do that?
I have on the other side of the seat replaced the metal panel with one containing the lumbar device and installed the lumber air chamber inside the upholstery. The passenger seat gets better and better! VB Adrian

Re: Help removing Isri seat knob
Hi Adrian,
a similar knob is included the package A0009181560 (grip horizontal seat cushion adjustment right) which I purchased for my passenger seat conversion with pushable cushion at my MB Dealer (nearly 40,- EUR, contains knob, carrier, pulling lever, spring, clamp, 4 plastic sliding parts, screws). This knob is black and has a symbol for horizontal pushing cushion on it. The knob itself should be always the same - left/right, black/orange and vertical/horizontal.
There also is a A0009181460 in their system - the same Name but left side. I don't know if only the printed symbol is different - not important for me.
In my passenger seat I have to cut a square hole for the new grip and carrier into the metal cover of the seatframe. The frame is the same as in driverseat - everything for the assy should be there.
For the disassembly of your knob I'll take a photo of the knob and the carrier before mounting - perhabs this can help not to destroy them.
Best regards, Carsten

Re: Help removing Isri seat knob
Thank you Carsten. The only reason I want to remove the reclaim ob is to use a metal panel from another sprinter that already has the horizontal movement knob fitted. So I think I will adopt the same solution as you and cut a bike in the existing panel for the horizontal movement knob. So when you have done that some photos and description of how you made the hole. Then I will be brave to try. VB

Re: Help removing Isri seat knob
I didn't cut the hole yet - but here some pictures of the knob assy to understand the fixing principle.

Re: Help removing Isri seat knob
Thank you Carsten. That is helpful. The problem is how to move the clip noses while the the knob is fixed to the seat. I will experiment with the horizontal knob fixed to my spare side panel. But the easiest route may be to wait for you to make the hole and then copy you!
Off topic I am glad you have a Brompton. We have 2 which I have converted using the Nano kit to electric front hub with the battery in the front bag. Charged from inverter. But I need something with fatter tyres and suspension for rough trails etc. Riese and Muller bikes are too expensive for me bought new but an excellent used Tinker came up for sale. It is v good and like the Brompton can be carried on Altera dl3 towbar rack with seat right down and leave space on bike rack above to carry a vango inflatable awning. Travelling on my own sometimes I just stow the Brompton in the space behind the bench seat. All good fun. VB Adrian

Re: Help removing Isri seat knob
Carsten, I have been experimenting with the knob for horizontal adjustment fitted to my spare seat panel. It has proved possible to seperate the two pieces by inserting 2 thin screwdriver blades to open up the wings that cover the nose of the knob and then pressing in. It has not broken! But before I try it out on the recliner knob I need to remove, I will check at my Mercedes dealer that there is a replacement for the knob. Then I will try and post some photos on the forum. Your photos of the the way the mechanism fits were a great help. So thank you VB Adrian
Re: Help removing Isri seat knob
I have now removed the Isri reclining knob without breaking it! Below is a picture of the same knob in red that I first experimented with. To remove the knob you have to insert a thin screwdriver either side and carefully bend out the triangular wings in the picture. Careful or they will snap. Then press the screwdrivers in and the knob should come free after a bit of wiggling. Before attempting this I checked if a replacement knob is available and below is also a picture of the part number. I hop this helps. Adrian
Re: Help removing Isri seat knob
Great!
Did you already cut the hole in the seat carrier?
This is a job for bad weather - here we have best summer weather, so I travel with my James and don't work in it...

Re: Help removing Isri seat knob
The side panel from the other Sprinter seat already had holes made by Isri. So I blanked off the ones I didn’t need. I agree about the good weather. No more work on the Cook now until the Winter- well maybe just a few things!!
