Despair over rear seat sliding. Help please

Beitrag von Adrianlle » 01.02.2020 17:39

I have posted before about how hard it is to slide the rear seat. We use it every night for my wife to sleep on and I am beginning to wonder if it needs to go to Manfred Ermel - a long drive from the U.K. but the alternative is probably selling the Cook - which I would hate to do.

First, am I right in thinking that at 14 stone I shouldn’t have to use all my strength to pull and push it?

Secondly, any advice on how the bolts on each of the feet of the seat should be adjusted. I have spent 2 full days with every combination of loose/ tight bolts and the sliding is as difficult as ever. Silicone makes no difference.

So any help appreciated. Otherwise it is a trip to Manfred Eemel or sell the Cook.

Having the same problem, I saved a link to this thread: https://forum.james-cook-freunde.de/vie ... php?t=1636 - Did you read it already? For a better translation, you should try deepl.com.
However, I didn't try to fix my seat yet as the problem is not too bad with it.

Thank you Kasimir. I have the link but adjusting the angle of the rear feet with the pivot bolt on each side makes no difference. So next I will take the seat out again and try all over again! It is heavy work for a 67 year old though! Adrian

Now that I have taken the bench seat out the nylon feet look a little scored. The aluminium rails look ok - there are a couple of points where a burr on the surface could do with filing down with a dremel. So, can anyone tell me where I might buy 4 new nylon feet for the bench seat? I have sent a request to Manfred Ermel, but so far had no reply. Thank you. Adrian
