Central Locking problems
Hello Everyone , Happy New Year.
Been having intermittent problems with my remote locking.
Now it's not working at all. Taken door cards off and cleaned mechanism no change.
Passenger side seems to work a lot better more decisive, resistance on drivers.
I owned a w123 had vacuum licking, how does this system work??
There is a hole to the top of the actuator unit
All I am getting is a clicking sound from under the drivers seat, any ideas???
Google file for photos of issue

Re: Central Locking problems
Hi Russ,
a happy new year for you to the island!
Central locking of sprinters are only working in the EU
The central locking in the sprinter is not working with vacuum but electrical. There are many possibilities of malfunctions in the sprinter, I‘m not (yet...) an expert with that.
Some of them you‘ll find searching for „Zentralverriegelung“ - here
https://forum.james-cook-freunde.de/sea ... 6&start=15
and in the sprinter-forum (D) or sprinter-source (US).
Good luck - and please let us know the solution
Regards, Carsten

Re: Central Locking problems
Thanks Karsten
I somehow think my central locking will be the least of my problems, thanks to Brexit
Thanks for your help,i will have a good look at it,although it does seem quite a lot involved for my limited skills.
It would be great if i could just pinpoint the cause, whether it be actuators, locks or electrical gremlins, theres so many things it could be.
Well Best Wishes from the Island, and Happy New Year.

Re: Central Locking problems
An update,i have it looked at by an auto electrician, signal seems to be pulsing from the relay,so i have bought a replacement module initially,we will see if this solves the problem.
It was mentioned i may have to code my key to the module, does anyone know how to do this????
regards
Russ

Re: Central Locking problems
Hi
Well, there is the black plastic box that does the movement of the white, flexible rubber that opens/closes the door. Inside the black box there is the mechanism that moves the all think. I can't explain via txt, but if you open the black box and put the mechanism right where it sleeps/where supposed to be. Then you close the box very tight with plastic ties. It is the black box, I can see from the video that is not closed tightly. That causes that the inside mechanism gets out of its place. When you open the black box it will make sense.

Re: Central Locking problems
Toni77 is absolutely right.
I had the same problem: The black housing/case was not really tightly closed.
So put all the parts inside in correct position (see picture), close the case and fix it.
I used a metal clip to make sure the case wouldn't open again. Glue and tape were not successful.
I wish you success.

Re: Central Locking problems
Hi Russ,
sorry, I just saw, that in the picture one part is not in the correct position.
The "nose" of the black part that is actuated by the white spindle (marked red) must be put into the groove of the blue part (marked with the yellow arrow). But I guess, otherwise the case can't be closed.
Good luck!

Thankyou very much I will give it a go.Toni77 hat geschrieben: ↑09.01.2021 17:30Hi

I have now cleaned and lubricated all the locks, cleaned the door contacts on sliding and rear doors.
Fitted the replacement module, still the same just clicking from the module under seat, no activation of locks. Checked all fuses.
So this definitely worth a look
Thanks Russ

Re: Central Locking problems
Hello, I'm going to try when rain stops
Do I have to remove the whole door lock to take the black box off, seems to be fixed on inside edge of door???
Thanks

Re: Central Locking problems
Hi Everyone
Still having the issue.
Ok so far,i have tried a different remote module-no change
dismantled, door locks and thoroughly cleaned-no change
Cleaned all door pins and contact plates-no change
checked all actuators - no change
I feel the drivers side lock seems very stiff and isnt moving as freely as it should,it seems to be jamming. With this in mind,i have ordered a new lock and actuator,i will change this when it arrives, fingers crossed!!!
Also i am now having difficulting starting the van,its just turning over, but not firing.
Is the immobiliser connected to the door locks, would the function of the locks be stopping the engine starting.
I am still just getting audible clicking from under the drivers seat, when pressing the lock button on the remote, and nothing else.
All help appreciated,im getting thoroughly stuck lots of head scratching going on.
thanks Russ

Re: Central Locking problems
Hi Russ,
did you do, what Toni proposed?
Good luck

Did you open the black housing and did you do, what I described?Toni77 hat geschrieben: ↑09.01.2021 17:30... open the black box and put the mechanism right where it sleeps/where supposed to be. As Toni77 already mentioned, in the video you can see that the black housing is not closed correctly - so it is very probable, that the parts inside are not in correct position (see enclosed picture).
Good luck

Re: Central Locking problems
I tried, but i couldnt get it apart, didnt want to force it,the gap looked even all the way round.
I have ordered a new lock and actuator,so i will try that when it arrives.
Worse bit is now,i have a starting issue, not sure if locks are part of the immoboliser system, but the engine wont start
