Hi Pierrot,
thanks for sharing these information - good to know that there are spareparts available.
As I know the ECU is a standard part from Eberspächer but the software on it is westfalia specific - did they say anything about that?
For the D4S there are two series of ECU - the first should be not as robust as the second. From which year is your ECU and what is the series number on it?
Best regards, Carsten

Re: Eberspacher D4S Heater problem
Dear Carsten,
Actually the new Eberspacher ECU 22 5101 00 3701 is really plug and play and dedicated to the James Cook Westfalia. You keep the central control of your James Cook !
The new ECU is made by Hella, which from what I know is the best type of ECU (more reliable). The old one I had is number 22 5101 00 1701. My James Cook is from year 2005.
I really wish my German was better when I read posts where many people seem to change their heater for another one, whereas the change of this ECU only may be the solution, especially considering that you keep the Westfalia central control panel. I guess this should be at least possible for James Cook equiped with Eberspacher D4S models, not for earlier models.
Best regards

Re: Eberspacher D4S Heater problem
Hi Pierrot,
thank your for these details - but I'm stil not up to date...
I'm wondering about the partnumbers:
Your old ECU from 2005: 22 5101 00 1701 ("first series"?)
your new ECU: 22 5101 00 3701 ("second series"?)
My ECU (week 41/2005): 22 5101 00 3702
Kennt sich noch jemand hier aus mit den Nummern und Varianten des D4S-Steuergerätes?
Carsten

Re: Eberspacher D4S Heater problem
Dear Carsten,
My old ECU was actually week 30/04 (not 2005, sorry). New one already mounted, but the box indicates : 22 5101 00 3701 2G.
Date : 02/21...
I wish I had taken a picture of the ECU itself but it should be the same as what the box indicates...
Best regards
