old d2l heater glow plug replacement

Beitrag von cesarmax22 » 23.04.2021 16:02

Hi all,

I resumed trying to restore my old d2l heating from 81 JC. I would say it is now a challenge, since I'm not sure it's worth repairing it.

So the problem now is the glow plug. It got burnt. It is the old glow plug with like a spring on the exterior. It is impossible to get it. Do you know if i can just replace it by a regular heating pencil style glow plug and make the adapter to fit it inside? would it work? I mean it just needs to heat up to produce the combustion right? any ideas?

In 2012 the glowplug in my D2L heater broke in Argentina.
I tried to solder it, but the repair did not last.

Finally Eberspächer sent me the sparepart to Santiago de Chile in order to avoid the customs in Argentina.

I would give a regular glowplug from a Diesel engine a try.

A few weeks later, a heat sensor in the D2L broke.

This heater does not like gravel roads like RN40.

The D2L was fitted in many Westfalia VW campers.
Maybe a VW workshop can help you.
